The natural beauty of its countryside, the varying climate and the many sights and events make Sussex the ultimate vacation destination throughout the year. Impressive murals on walls throughout Sussex and Sussex Corner tell the story of our rich history and can be admired year round. Sussex is also perfect for all of your favorite summer activities like golfing, hiking, bicycling, canoeing, fishing and horseback riding. Sussex goes all out in terms of tradition in August and September when two major events take place: the Flea Market and Balloon Fiesta.

		Giant Flea Market & Antique Car Show Sussex's Giant Flea Market & Antique Car Show is held in August. For three days, the otherwise quiet town is inundated with "treasure hunters," all in search of that perfect find!



		Atlantic Balloon Fiesta In September, during the weekend after Labour Day, the famous Atlantic Balloon Fiesta is held. Balloonists from all across Canada and America take part in this spectacular event. And visitors are offered the perfect opportunity to admire Sussex and the surrounding areas from "a higher plane."



		Covered Bridge Festival Since 2003, a newcomer has been added to this list of events. Sussex and some neighbouring towns organize the Covered Bridge Festival in July. A variety of activities are scheduled in order to place the many authentic wooden bridges - true historical landmarks which are so abundant in Kings County - in the limelight.



		The wonders of fall In the fall, you can enjoy a spectacular natural phenomenon when the trees in the hilly landscape are adorned in breathtaking colours.


Old Time Christmas In late November, Sussex takes a trip back in time during the 2-day "Old Time Christmas" celebration. The streets and shops are transformed into a Charles Dickens Christmas scene. Street musicians, horses and carriages, carolers, hot apple cider and of course Santa Claus: you’ll find it all here!



Santa Claus Parade The residents of Sussex and the surrounding towns come out in hordes for the beautifully illuminated Santa Claus Parade that takes place in December and which has a different theme every year. The enthusiasm of the participants and the decorations on the floats make this parade a true happening.


		Winter Wonderland Real winters with lots of snow and a sun that shines nearly every day on the wintry landscape makes Sussex an ideal travel destination in the winter months as well. During the wintertime in Sussex, you can cross-country and downhill ski, go snow-shoeing, ice-skating or ice-fishing, or go out for a sleigh or snowmobile ride, all to your heart’s content.



		The pleasures of spring In the spring, you can witness the unique manner in which the sap is extracted from sugar maple trees and how the famous maple syrup is being made. This traditionally made product is available in our souvenir shop.
